As we’re halfway through 2018, now is a great time to revisit your digital marketing strategies and perform this quick mid-year digital marketing audit. Here are three things to consider:
Is your content on point and on trend?
While blogging is still an effective way to reach your audiences, in 2018, you’re fighting for people’s very short attention spans (Facebook counts a view as 1.7 seconds, that’s it!). So how are you going to delight, teach, and entertain? And how are you going to do it in a fast and punchy way? Because that’s what people are looking for online. And please… stop worrying about the mere act of “posting.” Watch our most recent video to learn three things to focus on instead.
Are you focusing on the best channels for you and for these times?
Recently we tested video performance across multiple social channels. To our surprise, the LinkedIn post got the most video views of all social networks. Facebook fell flat. Even after we boosted the post, it still didn’t get as many views as the video did on LinkedIn. We also tested IGTV (Instagram TV) video vs Instagram Stories. Insta Stories appear to get more views than IGTV videos. However, given that IGTV is not even a month old, it may be too soon to tell. We’ll keep testing and will report back when we know more.
Are your marketing strategies built for mobile first?
It’s estimated that Americans spend one-third of their waking hours on their phones, and 80% of social media website visits come from mobile activity. Now that Google is prioritizing mobile-first indexing, this is a good time to make sure your site is mobile-friendly and can answer the questions that people are searching for. Like we’ve said before: The future of search is voice.
