For many of us, Friday mornings on Twitter start the same each week:
- Find 5–10 #FollowFriday / #FF tweets mentioning you
- Feel obligated to thank each sender
- Wonder who started this tedious trend and when it will finally subside
For some (like me), #FollowFriday has lost much of its value. Rather than having people praise me for the quality of content within my Twitter stream, I’d much rather help to restore the meaning of Friday shout outs.
Changing the Meaning of Friday Shout Outs
The Gateway for Cancer Research is starting a new movement this holiday season: #FundAHoliday. Each Friday in December, The Gateway will be inviting Tweeps to join in the spirit of giving by donating funds to cancer research, giving cancer patients hope this holiday.
One American dies every 57 seconds from cancer; worldwide someone dies every 3.8 seconds. These are loved ones, not statistics.
Do your part this holiday by helping The Gateway spread their message and raising money for cancer research for better treatment options and cures. 99 cents of every dollar received funds research, so you know your efforts will truly help.
Help Out – Tweet to Donate!

Show your support:
- Each Friday, tag @DemandCures in a tweet using the hashtag #FundAHoliday and telling everyone why you DEMAND cures for cancer.
- Make a donation to fund cancer research and encourage everyone who sends you some #FF love to do the same by sharing the link: http://owl.li/fMFYD
